Carnation
These beautiful flowers feature in our Spread the Love edition and are another easy grower in gardens, window boxes and planters. Like true love, they’re one for the long haul – carnations can grow and bloom for years, bringing color and romance to your garden.
How to use it
Of course, you know you can cut them and put them in a vase. But did you know that carnation flowers can be used as an edible decoration in desserts and salads, or that you can change their color by putting a carnation flower stem in a glass with food coloring. Now you do!
The best thing about carnations: blooms stay looking fresh for up to 14 days even when they’re cut!
